Diagnostic Visit
A factory-trained tech with the right tools — not a parts-counter guess.
Sometimes you know something's wrong but you can't pin it down. The machine sounds different. The tolerances drifted. The alarm clears but comes back. A diagnostic visit is a focused, structured 2–4 hours on the floor that converts "something's off" into a written report with a real quote and a real path forward.
What's Included
Scope of work
Specific to your machine list and shift count. Custom adjustments are quoted separately.
- Pre-visit phone call to gather symptoms, recent changes, alarm history, scrap evidence
- On-site structured diagnostic — instrumentation matched to the symptom (vibration, ballbar, laser, electrical, mechanical, depending on what the symptoms suggest)
- Photo and measurement documentation throughout the visit
- Written report at end of visit: findings, root cause assessment, recommended remediation, parts list, ballpark pricing
- Follow-up quote within 24 hours with firm pricing for the recommended fix
- Diagnostic credit: when the recommended fix is performed by us, the diagnostic visit's labor cost is credited toward the repair
Why It Matters
The business case
The fastest path from "machine isn't right" to "here's the fix and what it costs" is a structured diagnostic by someone who's seen the same problem 50 times. The wrong path is throwing parts at it, replacing things that aren't broken, or letting the problem sit and produce scrap.
How It Works
The process
-
Phone intake
A tech gathers the symptom history. This is also where we identify what instruments to bring.
-
On-site, 2–4 hours
Structured diagnostic. We measure what we expected to measure based on the phone call, plus whatever the machine surfaces during testing.
-
Written report
Per-machine PDF with findings, photos, measurements, root cause assessment, recommended fix, parts, and ballpark cost.
-
Firm quote
Within 24 hours of the visit, a firm quote for the recommended fix. Decide and we schedule.
Common Questions
FAQ
How much does a diagnostic visit cost?
Standard rate plus travel for our service area. The diagnostic visit produces a written report regardless of what comes next, so you have something real even if you choose not to proceed.
What if you can't figure out the problem?
Rare, but it happens — usually when the failure is intermittent and didn't manifest during our visit. We document what we ruled out, what to capture next time it happens, and adjust scope from there. We don't bill for a diagnostic that produced no useful information.
Does the diagnostic credit toward the repair?
Yes. When the fix we recommend is performed by us, the labor portion of the diagnostic visit is credited toward the repair invoice. Parts are billed separately.
Can you do a diagnostic on multiple machines in one visit?
Yes — efficient when you have a few machines that all want a look. Each one gets its own report.
